If you ask me why I’m grateful
After all that I’ve been through
I’d have to smile and tell you, love
It’s all because of you.
If you ask me why I’m laughing
Even though I work so hard
I’d turn to wink and whisper, boy
I love your playing in the yard.
If you ask me why I’m happy
Yet my prayers seem unfulfilled
I’d stop and shake my head, dear
Life with you is such a thrill.
If you ask me why I’m blessed
While chasing hard my dream
I’d wrap my arms around you, son
Singing, “There’s magic in a moonbeam.”
Again, if you ask me why I’m grateful
It’s really simple to see
My best life began
The day you came to be.
Love, Mom
Until next time-
C

That’s incredibly sweet!
Hi Catherine! That is an absolutely beautiful poem! I wanted to let you know that you are Coffee Break’s reader of the day so your link will be at the top of the blog until tomorrow.
Thanks and I hope you are enjoying the weekend!
I am a long time reader who followed you over from AOL. Your poetry is my favorite and I wish you would write more poems.

Your son is adorable!
Absolutely so lovely…it must be in the air this week…I wrote about my kids just yesterday. I think I’ve famed you..if not I will check tom. Pam is here now … she just had her last week with Bill. I think she wanted some mommy time…I guess they never get too old to want mama. You should see the video love message she made tonight…I posted it. He will be over there now pretty quick…it’s hard on both of them..they really do have a true love affair. Oh well-hell-came to comment on your site and talked about me. Well you know what they say about us blonds. Great post my friend…very touching!~jackie
You scared me to death with that cold cream and curly picture at the top of the page Redhead. I thought it was my second wife and that you had joined forces! What a scary thought I would have no defense!!!
Beautifully written…
I have often thought children are gifts we give each other… and by raising them we give them as gifts to the world…
Catherine – What a lovely poem. What a handsome son you have, you are so blessed. Take care.
Thank you all for you comments … and Penduliium – how do you know I’m not?
