See How Easily You Can Be Grateful Over Summer Vacation

I’ve survived the first weeks of summer vacation and no one has died yet.

Operative word here: Y E T.

So what is the redhead grateful for this week?  I know you are just sitting on the edge of your chair … waiting, holding your breath … drum roll please…

This week I am grateful that:

Vitamins have been served as vegetables for Brian since 1995!

and, I am grateful that

Brian has a redhead friend, which means I haven’t completely fu**ed him up about redheads.

Give me time.

and, I am grateful that

There are still places boys can go to be boys … and parents get a summer break.  Oddly, there is a bar right next door to this place.  Is there a connection?

and, I am grateful that

There are people like John who take an interest in teaching baseball to other people’s kids.  Good God, he doesn’t even get paid.  He must have some really great drugs patience. Hmmmmm … he’s a redhead too.  What is this?  It takes a village of redheads to raise one Brian?

and, I am grateful that

One of these is at least three miles from every parents house, so when we hear the proverbial “I’m bored!” we can send them on a two hour walking errand to get themselves one of these.  We can’t get our kids to walk to the park a block away, but we can get them to walk several miles for a Slurpee.  I am sure there is vitamin C in there somewhere, especially in the blue ones…

And lastly I am grateful that it is now my ex husband’s week to “entertain” Brian.  Good luck there Terry!

Until next time-

    Hi Catherine,
Just keep in mind, from one redhead to another, I survived my son’s teen years and you will survive Brian’s eventual climb into them too. Enjoy the peace and quiet while your ex is entertaining him this next week.
I hate to rain on your parade, but one day 15 or so years from now you will look back on this and laugh about how much he has changed and how the time flew and you have no idea when he went from being 12 to 27…Most of the guys I have ever known never get past being twelve mentally on a good day any way…

You have a lot of energy, even in your writing…and I love those blue slushy things. Never – ever drink one too fast. One time I had a brain freeze so bad, I had to pull over.
