The Secret People Behind Love Poems
“How was school today?”
“OK.”
Silence.
Silence.
“I had to do the dumbest thing ever in English.”
“Oh?”
“We had to write a love poem. (Big sigh) Who writes that crazy stuff anyways except for girls and old men?”
Until next time -

I imagine you’re dying to read it, and to know who he had in mind while writing it.

Seriously funny!!! My wife and I come poke around your site all the time. You are the reason we want a son. Too bad Brian isn’t playing basketball!
Your writings are very funny. You should write more every day on this blog. I am afraid that I was probably like this to my mother. I only hope she looked at me with the same loving, humorous way. I lost her to cancer five years ago. I miss her. Thanks for making me laugh and feel better.

OK, here’s where teenagers outsmart us. He is always asking me to help him by saying, “But Moooom you are the real writer. Can’t you just look at this and tell me what you think?” SO I peaked at the poem when he brought it home in his folder and it is amazing – a girl would be thrilled to read it. Now I have to pretend like I know nothing about it, but he is a better writer than he lets on and I think he has figured out a way to suck me into helping him with homework.
