How To Be Grateful And End Up With A Sister-In-Law

This week I am grateful for the gift that having a new sister in law brings.  This photo is living proof that a girl actually likes my brother.  Apparently they got engaged on my birthday over the fourth of July. It seems he is still trying to win the day back after I stole it 47 years ago and made it my birthday.

Freckin brothers.

Brian is thrilled at this news because he inherits her two sons as cousins.  My son is a cousinaholic, meaning he is addicted to having cousins.  The only thing he has to say on gaining a new aunt is, “Do I have to go to a wedding?”

I am also grateful for my aunt and uncle visiting from Virginia Beach.  For the first time I heard some of his stories about Viet Nam.  He is retired from the Navy, and tells fascinating stories about his military life.   He was awarded the Bronze Star.  The only thing I’ve been awarded is a toilet that flushes in the middle of the night when no one is there.
And as always I am grateful for Brian, the guy who never wants to go to any weddings. and the fact that there are only:

22 days until 7th grade!

Until next time-

If You Ask Me Why I’m Grateful

If you ask me why I’m grateful
After all that I’ve been through
I’d have to smile and tell you, love
It’s all because of you.

If you ask me why I’m laughing
Even though I work so hard
I’d turn to wink and whisper, boy
I love your playing in the yard.

If you ask me why I’m happy
Yet my prayers seem unfulfilled
I’d stop and shake my head, dear
Life with you is such a thrill.

If you ask me why I’m blessed
While chasing hard my dream
I’d wrap my arms around you, son
Singing, “There’s magic in a moonbeam.”

Again, if you ask me why I’m grateful
It’s really simple to see
My best life began
The day you came to be.

Love, Mom

Until next time-
