How Father’s Day Really Happens

Posted by Catherine, the redhead mom blogger on Jun 21, 2009 in Parenting 101

“Dad?”

“Yeah?”

“Can I borrow $20.00?”

“Sure, but can I ask what for?”

“Yeah I guess so.  I need to buy you a Father’s Day gift.”

Happy Father’s Day to all of you who finance your own presents.  I hope you had a wonderful day.

Until next time-

The Utimate Salute To All Fathers

Posted by Catherine, the redhead mom blogger on Jun 17, 2007 in Remembering

I send my Father’s Day love out to all the Fathers today who will still take out the garbage, feed all the pets, start the coffee, mow and water the lawn, only to drive everyone where they need to go – even though it’s Father’s Day.

I send my Father’s Day love out to any Father who’s children have forgotten to acknowledge him for all the years he took out the garbage, fed all the pets, started the coffee, mowed and watered the lawn only to drive everyone where they need to go without break or a moments peace.

I send my Father’s Day love out to any Father whose ex-wife or current wife don’t or won’t acknowledge his loving contribution to the family, his selflessness and devotion to the children his constant leadership in the stormy sea of life.

I send my Father’s Day love out to any Step-father who’s wife and step-children may have forgotten to say “thank you” for being there when their own father isn’t, for loving when it is not required and for the hours of lost sleep worrying over children who are not his.

I send my Father’s Day love out to all the men who volunteer their time to coach our children in sports,  to lead them on Scouting trips, for serving in the military, for teaching in the schools and for standing as a positive role model showing what a man can be.

My own Father, Eldon, died when I was 18.  He taught me how to be brave in the face of sorrow, tough in the face of fear, kind to those downtrodden, loving to my family and friends.  He was a hero I lost too soon, but I remember him … I sooooo remember him.  His love comforts me still.  I love you Dad.

Happy Father’s Day to my ex-husband Terry.  Thank you for becoming my friend and encouraging me to chase my dream.  Thank you for being the kind of man who fought to be in your son’s life everyday.  He will be a better man for knowing his father.

Uh … but could you feed Brian from here on out?

And a special thank you Fathers of the world that fill this world with strength and the promise of a new tomorrow.

Happy Father’s Day.

Until next time-
