Some Redheads Are Liars

Redheads Are Liars: boys

On the 8 Women Dream website it reads, “Catherine’s dream is to be a motivator and published writer. She is testing her theories on motivation with this blog and the seven other women who have volunteered to be a part of her dream project. Catherine also writes about her life as a mom at the blog A Week In The Life Of A Redhead. She would also like to be invited to speak at TED as the next Erma Bombeck.”

But I haven’t been writing here have I?

Which makes me a liar.

I must confess I have mom-writers block.

My son is 16, taller than me and cuter than anything posted on Cute Overload. Suddenly I am not so sure I should write about him anymore.  Shouldn’t I be “getting a life?” Can’t you hear that sentence in a teenage-tone?

But … he has the right to write about his life himself.

Really.

I don’t get you spray-tanning-baby-pageant-pushing-Thylane-Loubry-Blondeau-Vogue-Loving moms who shove out your kids into the world to be devoured by the masses. Yet here I am … or was … writing a blog that includes my son.

I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning.

I need to get a life people.

He loves that I write. He’s a great kid. But I know in those eyes that pierce my soul that he wants me writing great stories about MY life so he can laugh and point at his mom with pride, roll his eyes and say, “Oh hell, look what my mom is doing now!”

Meanwhile he is hoping that I don’t notice the small dent he has put in the back of my car because he was busy checking out a girl while being cool showing how one can back into a tree.

I am so blessed.

Even with Hashimotos disease and battling through life without Oprah’s staff helping me: I love being a mom. This is something I never planned or believed I could ever love so much. And I also kick ass online.

Really I do.

I have to start telling what a week is really like in the life of a redhead.

Minus a teenage boy.

May God help me.

Until next time -

C
